The Lawrence Unit 20 Board of Education met in a special session Wednesday at Lawrenceville High School (LHS) and moved to fill two of the four open head coaching positions at the school, staying in-house.
They named Tad Shick as the Indian boys head basketball coach. He succeeds Randy Bishop, who left this summer to become boys basketball head coach at Robinson. Shick is a former Indian player and collegiate player and coach. He also was Lawrenceville Lady Indian basketball head coach prior to becoming an assistant to Bishop and JV head coach. His 2023-24 JV squad finished unbeaten at 19-0 and many of those players return. The board also named Bethany Ivers as the Lady Indian head volleyball coach replacing Misty Bellville, who stepped down this summer. Ivers is a 2005 LHS graduate and former athlete who has been the JV head coach and assistant to Bellville. The move still leaves two head coaching spots open---boys baseball and wrestling.
