Shelbyville's Wyatt Armstrong and Aiden Smith are tennis sectional champions.
Shelbyville’s No. 1 doubles team defeated Perry Meridian’s Vincent Li and Hosea Sang, 6-0, 6-3 Friday to earn the doubles sectional championship at Center Grove High School.
With three wins at Center Grove, Armstrong (photo, left) and Smith (photo, right) improved to 22-2 this season. This is the second straight doubles sectional championship for Smith, who teamed with Karson Schaf last season and won 24 matches including sectional and regional titles.
Up next for the Golden Bears is a regional semifinal match Saturday at Fishers High School against the Mt. Vernon Sectional champion.
The other regional semifinal match pits the sectional winners from Columbus North and North Central.
The regional championship will be Saturday afternoon at Fishers with a berth in the State Finals on the line.
