A total of 133 teams will compete for the inaugural Indiana High School Athletic Association Boys Volleyball state championship.
On Sunday, the IHSAA announced the sectional pairings for the tournament that begins May 13.
Sixteen sectional champions will be crowned on May 17.
Two rounds of regionals will follow on May 24 to determine the four state finalists.
The state championship matches will be played at Mackey Arena on the campus of Purdue University in West Lafayette on May 31.
Shelbyville is assigned to the seven-team sectional hosted by Franklin. The Golden Bears (6-13) are 2-4 against the field this season.
The sectional begins May 14 at Franklin with Columbus North (7-17) taking on Greenwood Christian (11-8). The winner advances to the May 17 semifinal round to face Shelbyville.
On May 15, quarterfinal matches are Greenwood (9-12) battling Franklin (15-9) and Columbus East (10-14) facing Whiteland (5-16). Winners return May 17 for a semifinal match.
The championship game is later that night.
The winner of the Franklin Sectional advances to the Perry Meridian Regional on May 24 to face the winner of the Southport Sectional in the second semifinal match.
The regional opener is the New Albany Sectional champion against the Terre Haute North Sectional champion.
