Waldron did wear blue uniforms when it defeated Greenwood Christian Academy in the fifth-place game Saturday at the Shenandoah Invitational.
Only Waldron’s uniforms said “Shenandoah” or “Raiders.” The Mohawks did not realize they were supposed to wear their dark uniforms. So the team wore its white shorts and blue uniform tops borrowed from Shenandoah (photo).
It still resulted in a second-straight victory for Waldron after suffering a 43-41 loss to Rushville Friday in its tournament opener.
On Saturday, Eli Stewart scored 16 points and Ethan Moody finished with 14 to secure a 57-45 win over Greenwood Christian.
Will Jackson led the Cougars (2-7) with 11 points. Elijah Crowe had 10 points.
Following its loss to Rushville, Waldron bounced back behind a big performance Friday from Moody, who finished with 30 points and 15 rebounds, to collect a 73-69 win over Seton Catholic.
Stewart had 12 in the win and Lincoln Fischer added 10 points.
Jackson Feist led Seton Catholic (0-9) with 23 points.
In its opener, Waldron trailed Rushville, 35-26, after three quarters then started its comeback.
Jackson Kuhn hit a three-pointer with about five seconds left to get the game tied.
Rushville escaped with the win, hitting two free throws in the final seconds for the two-point victory.
Zy Adams led the Lions (5-4) with 16 points.
Moody led the Mohawks with 11 points. Stewart and Myers each had eight.
Waldron (5-3) will host Brown County (2-4) on Jan. 2.
