Shelbyville's Emmie Higgins earned her first medalist honor of the season Friday in the Golden Bears' 2024 debut on their home course -- Blue Bear Golf Club.
Higgins carded a 9-hole score of 45 to finish seven strokes ahead of runner-up, and Higgins’ teammate, Riley Everette (52).
However, Shelbyville could not secure the dual-match victory over New Castle, 218-225. Four Trojan golfers posted scores between 53 and 55 to earn the win.
Also competing for Shelbyville were Kylie Stader (61) and Maddy Jones (67).

Southwestern 239, Jac-Cen-Del Inc.
At North Branch Golf Course, Sydney Griffin carded a 53 to earn the medalist honor and lead the Spartans to the victory over the Eagles.
Also on the Southwestern scorecard were Aurora Belton (57), Taryn Hoeing (60) and Emma Chandler (69).
Jac-Cen-Del fielded just two golfers – Nautia Williams and Claire Heilers. Both posted rounds of 56.
