Plymouth girls basketball will open the postseason against a familiar foe.
The Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) announced the sectional pairings Sunday for the 49th Annual Girls Basketball State Tournament.
Sectional games begin Jan. 30 with sectional champions crowned on Feb. 3. Regional championship games are scheduled for Feb. 10.
South Bend Washington is the host site for Class 4A, Sectional 3. The seven-team tournament opens with one game on Jan. 30 – LaPorte (2-17) taking on South Bend Adams (12-9). The winner advances to the Feb. 2 semifinal round to face South Bend Riley (3-16).
The first quarterfinal game Jan. 31 pits Michigan City (3-14) against No. 10 South Bend Washington (16-4).
In the second game, Plymouth (10-9) will face Mishawaka (9-11) for a second time this season. In their first meeting Jan. 6, Sophie Miller, Rylee Mann and Tynley Gantz combined for 39 points to get the Pilgrims a 55-35 victory.
The winners of the Jan. 31 games will meet in the second semifinal game on Feb. 2 at South Bend Washington.
The winner of the South Bend Washington Sectional will face the winner of the Lake Central Sectional on Feb. 10 at a site yet to be determined. The one-game regional championship sites will be announced at the conclusion of the sectional round of the tournament.
The northern regional host sites are Bellmont, Caston, Jimtown, Lapel, LaPorte, Marion, Wes-Del and Winamac.
