Shelbyville High School forward Mar Nicholson has been named the Beth Prince State Farm Athlete of the Week.
The six-foot-five junior had an impressive weekend as the Golden Bears won two games to improve to 5-0 for the first time since 2005.
In wins over New Castle (70-61) and Whiteland (67-64), Nicholson scored a combined 63 points on 26-of-34 shooting. He added 17 rebounds and five blocks.
Against New Castle Friday, Nicholson finished with 32 points. On Saturday, he continued his hot streak against Whiteland with 31 points.
The Golden Bears are back in action Tuesday at Greenwood. Shelbyville hosts Hoosier Heritage Conference foes Mt. Vernon and Yorktown this weekend.
