Morristown hit just enough shots Thursday to secure the Military Night victory at Waldron, 41-38.
The Yellow Jackets (2-2, 1-1 Mid-Hoosier Conference) did not make a three-pointer and struggled to knock down free throws (7 of 15) but executed well enough in the final minutes to fight off the Mohawks’ comeback attempt.
Waldron (2-2, 1-1 MHC) led 8-6 after the first quarter but was outscored in the middle quarters, 21-16, to trail 27-24 going to the final quarter.
Five different Yellow Jackets scored in the final eight minutes to secure the win. Brody Smith led Morristown with 12 points. Brayden Anderson finished with 10 and Owen Rinzel and Kellen Crim each scored eight.
Caige Sheaffer topped Waldron with 10 points. Luke Myers followed with eight and Eli Stewart finished with seven.
Morristown is at Blue River Valley (0-2) on Dec. 20. Waldron is back in action Tuesday at Milan (0-1).

Morristown’s girls basketball program started Military Night with a win over the Mohawks.
The Yellow Jackets (4-6, 1-2 MHC) led 7-6 after one quarter then outscored the Mohawks 9-2 in the second quarter to take a 16-8 lead at the break.
Waldron (4-5, 0-2 MHC) produced a better offensive performance in the second half but could not regain the lead in a low-scoring contest.
Jackie Corlett led Waldron with 10 points. Brooklyn Milbourn had eight points and Emerson Lindsey finished with six.
Jayla Keithley led Morristown with 10 points. Brooke Kuhn had nine points, and three more Yellow Jackets scored five points apiece.
Waldron is at North Decatur (3-8) on Dec. 19. Morristown is at Southwestern (2-8) on Tuesday.
