IHSAA announces Boys Soccer State Tournament pairings

The boys soccer programs at Shelbyville and Southwestern drew the longest path possible to a sectional championship.

The Indiana High School Athletic Association released the sectional pairings Sunday night for the 33^rd Annual Boys Soccer State Tournament.

A total of 312 boys soccer teams begin sectional play on Oct. 5. Regional semifinals are Oct. 14-15 with regional championship games to follow on Oct. 17.

East Central Sectional

The seven-team, Class 3A sectional field plays in St. Leon.

The opening match pits Shelbyville (5-8-1) against No. 16 Columbus North (6-2-3). The winner advances to face Center Grove (4-6-4) in the semifinal round.

The other quarterfinal matches are the host Trojans (9-4-1) taking on Franklin (0-12-1) and Whiteland (5-5-4) against Columbus East (6-3-5).

Shelbyville’s last sectional championship came in 2010.

Centerville Sectional

Triton Central will compete in the six-team, Class 2A sectional at Centerville.

Greensburg (11-3) will face the host Bulldogs (5-7-2) in the sectional opener. The winner will face the winner of the Connersville (6-5-2) and New Castle (4-5-4) match in the semifinals.

The other semifinal pits Triton Central (2-11-2) against Rushville (5-9-1). The Lions defeated the Tigers, 2-1, on Aug. 31.

Indianapolis Lutheran Sectional

There are five teams at the Class A sectional at Lutheran High School.

Providence Cristo Rey (4-6-4) opens against No. 8 Greenwood Christian (7-6) with the winner advancing to the semifinal round to battle Mooresville Christian (5-6-2).

The other semifinal has Morristown (5-6-3) taking on the host Saints (4-10).

The Yellow Jackets last sectional title came in 2012.

Southwestern (Shelby) Sectional

Class A, No. 15 Southwestern will need to defeat two teams it has suffered losses to this season just to reach the sectional championship match on its home field.

The Spartans (9-4-2) open the five-team sectional against No. 3 Shawe Memorial (11-2). The Hilltoppers defeated Southwestern, 6-1, in the season opener for both teams.

The winner advances to face Hauser (10-3-2) in the semifinals. The Jets defeated the Spartans in penalty kicks on Sept. 19 to win the inaugural Mid-Hoosier Conference Tournament.

The other semifinal match has Southwestern (Hanover) (1-8-3) taking on Trinity Lutheran (7-5-1).

Southwestern has not won a sectional championship since 2022.
