The Shelbyville, New Palestine and Mt. Vernon boys basketball teams entered the weekend tied for second place with identical Hoosier Heritage Conference records.
All three are chasing third-ranked, Class 4A Greenfield-Central. The Cougars lead the conference with a 4-0 record and feature UConn-commit Braylon Mullins, who is averaging over 34 ppg.
The Cougars have already won regular season conference meetings with New Palestine and Mt. Vernon. Shelbyville (13-3, 3-1 HHC) has won eight of its past nine games. The Golden Bears now get their shot at the conference leader with a trip to Greenfield on Saturday.
Greenfield-Central athletic director Jared Manning suggests anyone who is interested in attending the game purchase a ticket in advance.
