Batesville scored all of its points in the second half and overtime to steal a 20-17 victory from Triton Central Friday at Mendenhall Field in Fairland.
Triton Central opened the scoring with a 33-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Matthew Wilkins to Dylan Showalter in the second quarter. The extra point kick was blocked for a 6-0 lead that held to halftime.
Batesville delivered a rushing touchdown from Zandlin Small in the third quarter and a touchdown pass to Jackson Elston in the fourth to take a 14-6 lead.
Triton Central answered with an 8-yard scoring run from Wilkins late in regulation and a two-point conversion run from Landon Ball sent the game to overtime.
The Tigers’ first possession of the extra session resulted in a 20-yard field goal by Evan Mitchell for a 17-14 lead.
Batesville quarterback Calvin Padgett threw for his second touchdown pass, this time to Jack Schornick, to end the game.

Wilkins completed 10 of 28 pass attempts for 138 yards in the loss. Ball (photo) had a team-high 24 carries for 70 yards. Henry Kemper finished with seven receptions for 87 yards.
