The #2 ranked Lawrenceville basketball Indians went 3-1 overall and captured third place in the three-day 2025 Effingham-Teutopolis Christmas Classic Tournament.
The Tribe opened the tournament with a 64-36 win over the Dixon Dukes to run their record to 12-0. They won in the championship quarterfinals holding off Lutheran North of St. Louis 73-68 behind senior Jayden Goff who had a double-double with 27 points and 10 rebounds to improve to 13-0. However, the winning streak came to an end as Tolono Unity jumped out on top and handed the Indians a 70-58 loss in the semi-finals. Zander Cessna had 18 points and Goff added 16 as the Indians fell to 13-1.
The squad rebounded the next day and held off Champaign Centennial 74-70 to win third. Goff had 25 and Cessna 18 in the victory as the Indians finished up at 14-1. Both Goff and senior Noah Wilson were selected to the All-Tournament Team.
The Indians are idle until Friday, January 9th when they travel to Fairfield for non-conference play.
