Triton Central’s second win over Heritage Christian this season earned the Tigers a berth in the semifinal round of Class 2A, Sectional 43.
Triton Central used a balanced scoring attack to pull away from the Eagles for a 58-55 victory Tuesday at Christel House High School.
Max Crouse hit four three-pointers for a team-high 18 points for Triton Central (14-9). Five more Tigers scored between six and nine points to overcome a late push from Heritage Christian’s Isaac Arterburn and Caleb Flint.
The Tigers led 17-9 at the end of the first quarter and 29-20 at halftime. Arterburn and Flint scored all 17 of Heritage Christian’s points in the third quarter and cut Triton Central’s lead to 44-37.
That same duo scored 11 points in the fourth but the Tigers made 6-of-10 free throws to hold off the comeback attempt.
Flint finished with a game-high 19 points. Arterburn had 14 points. The Eagles closed the season at 8-14.
