The Parkview 8th grade Lady basketball Braves have taken another step in the postseason.
Monday evening before a packed Parkview Gym in Lawrenceville, they rallied in the second half and beat Teutopolis 33-24 in the championship game of the Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) Class 8-3A Regional 12 tournament.
The game was tight in the first half with T'town on top at the half by 1. But the hosts turned up the defensive pressure in the second half and took a 24-20 lead after three quarters. They then hit some free throws down the stretch to pad the lead and come away with the win to remain unbeaten at 22-0.
Parkview was led by Cameron Sanders with 11 points and Sienna Ivers added 10. Ivers was selected by tournament officials as the sportsmanship pin recipient for the Lady Braves.
The Lady Braves are right back at it Wednesday as they play in the 8-3A Sectional 6 tournament at Teutopolis. They will face 19-4 Sullivan. Sullivan advanced by winning the Regional 11 tournament. Game time is 6 p.m.
A student fan bus is being planned for the trip to Teutopolis. The cost is $5.00. Those wanting to go should sign up at the Parkview main office.
