William ‘Billy’ E. Fahr II, age 65, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, December 04, 2024 at the Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.

William ‘Billy’ E. Fahr II, age 65, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, December 04, 2024 at the Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. He was born on September 07, 1959 in Vincennes, Indiana, the son of William E. Fahr, Sr. and Peggy Lou (Sweeten) Gard Fahr. He was married to Susan (Hamilton) Shaffer, and she survives.

Billy was a 1977 graduate of Lawrenceville High School, where he was very active in his graduating class and was the mascot, Chief Tawanka, for two years. He worked with his father in the family business, Fahr Construction; and continued the business for most of his life. He was a member of the Central Christian Church; and a former member of the Eagles and the Moose. He was an avid golfer, hunter, and fisherman; and an avid Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, Kansas City Chiefs, and Lawrenceville High School sports fan. He loved being in the sun and being outdoors, as well as spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, Roy Gard and Terry Gard.

Survivors include his wife, Susan; five children, Matthew Fahr, Allyson Fahr and significant other, Andrew Turner, Brady Shaffer and wife, Amanda, Brandy McKinstry and husband, Jason all of Lawrenceville, Illinois, and T.J. Shaffer and wife, Erin of Marshall, Illinois; two sisters, Lou Ellen Bean and husband, Brian of Lawrenceville, Illinois and Cindy Thacker and husband, Phil of Chauncey, Illinois; nine grandchildren, Trinity Fahr, Jake McKinstry, Ethan McKinstry and wife, Megan, Colton Shaffer, Carson Shaffer, Breeanna McKinstry, Camryn Shaffer, Aubree Shaffer, and Quentin Shaffer; and one great-grandchild, Amelia Tate.

A Celebration of Life will be conducted on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 12:00 PM CST at the Central Christian Church, located at 303 Buchanan Drive in Lawrenceville, Illinois 62439. Visitation will be on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the service hour of 12:00 PM CST at the church. Memorial donations may be made to the Lawrence County Cancer Resource Center & Wig Shoppe or the Lawrence County Humane Society.
