Wilburn Harris, 87, of Plymouth, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, surrounded by love, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Plymouth.
The youngest of nine children, Wilburn was born on June 15, 1939, in Harlan, Kentucky to the late Emerson Green and Abbie (Woodard) Harris.
His father worked as a coal miner in Harlan County, but Wilburn was determined to have a better life for himself and left Kentucky as a teenager.
He met his soon-to-be wife, Jane Baldwin, in Ohio and they wed on April 24, 1965. Staying true to their wedding vows, they endured all of life’s joys and challenges for 61 years.
Wilburn enjoyed golfing and dancing in his younger years and enjoyed watching football. His favorite movie was My Cousin Vinny, and we will continue to hear his laughter every time we watch it. His musical tastes included everything from Frank Sinatra to Waylon Jennings and Merle Haggard.
Wilburn is survived by his wife, Jane, his sons Michael Harris and Mark Harris (Theresa Parker) and his daughter Marcey Duff. Also surviving are his grandchildren; Christopher (Emily) Harris, Carter Kelly, and great grandchildren; Colin and Audrey Harris.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his five sisters and three brothers.
A special thanks to the wonderful staff at Miller’s Merry Manor in Plymouth and The Care Team Hospice of Mishawaka.
In respecting his wishes, a family-only service will be held.
