Tony Lee Shearer, age 71 of St. Francisville, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Wabash General Hospital in Mount Carmel, IL.

Tony Lee Shearer, age 71 of St. Francisville, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Wabash General Hospital in Mount Carmel, IL. He was born July 18, 1955, in Olney, IL to Thomas Franklin and Louise (Chaplin) Shearer. 

He grew up attending the St. Francisville Christian Church. Tony became a member of the Masonic Lodge of St. Francisville and was a previous member of the Moose Lodge of Lawrenceville.  

He was a dedicated employee and worked hard. Tony worked in maintenance for over 20 years at the United Methodist Village and then more than 20 years at the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital until he retired. 

Tony served in his community in many different capacities. Those include: a board member of the Lawrence County Senior Citizens Center, Vice President of the Board for Conservation Lake Campground, and was also on the Board of Trustees for the City of St. Francisville. 

He always had a smile and loved spending time with his grandkids. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, hunting, and fishing. Tony was an avid collector of numerous things, especially eagles. 

Those left to carry on his legacy of dedication, outdoorsmanship, and servitude are: his two children- Aaron Shearer and wife Crystal of Robinson and Christie Sikes and husband Joe of Owensville, IN; his significant other Darlene Hershey of St. Francisville and her family; four siblings-Steve Shearer and wife Beth of Princeton, IN, Greg Shearer and wife Elizabeth of Texas, Tim Shearer and wife Teresa of Indianapolis, IN, and Carla Coomes and husband Robert of Vincennes, IN; five grandchildren- Dylan Shearer and partner Johna Bottoms, Dustin Shearer, Heather Dillon and husband Bailey, Brooklyn Hyneman and husband Julian and Mary Ritchey and husband Abe; nine great grandchildren plus one on the way; numerous nieces and nephews; and his dog, Blue. 

He was preceded in death by his parents- Thomas and Louise Shearer; his grandparents; and one nephew- Tommy Shearer. 

A visitation will be held at the Cunningham-Young Funeral Home in Lawrenceville on Thursday, August 6, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Masonic rites will be given at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday, August 7, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery south of Claremont.
