
S. Wayne Stewart, 81, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren, on May 18, 2025, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.
A memorial service will take place at Calvary Apostolic Church, Lawrenceville, Illinois, on May 22, 2025 at 12:00 PM central time. Pastor Jason Donaldson will be officiating.
Wayne was born in Haubstadt, Indiana on October 2, 1943, to Alfred and Rosie Stewart. He worked as an electrician for Vincennes University for 29 years until he retired. His most recent job, which he loved dearly, was working for the school corporation as a crossing guard.Wayne attended Calvary Apostolic Church of Lawrenceville, Illinois. Wayne’s hobbies included fishing, hunting, and NASCAR races. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Wayne leaves behind his wife of 49 years, Kathryn. He is survived by his children Brayden Stewart, Kim (Mike) Cannady, Tracy (Frankie) Woolard, Garrie Weible, Terry Stewart, Darin (Chantele) Cornwell, Derrick (Traci) Cornwell, William “Bill” Cornwell, Jack (Lori) Cornwell, Dana (Abby) Cornwell. Wayne had 32 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Toshera Johnson; a son, David Cornwell; and a grand-daughter, Kyla Marie Fox.
Wayne will be remembered for his continual smile, generosity, kindness, and love for his family. Friends and family are invited to his memorial service at CAC on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at 12:00 PM central time.
