Roger “Gene” Fiscus, age 75, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at Haven of Bridgeport.
Roger “Gene” Fiscus, age 75, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at Haven of Bridgeport. He was born on September 19, 1949 in Vincennes, Indiana, the son of Roger and Ann Shank Fiscus. He married Sandra Umfleet on December 21, 1969 and she survives.
Gene worked as a meat cutter at Red and White and IGA in Lawrenceville, and Key Market in Mt. Carmel. In later years he worked for Nick Ickes GMC and Hershey in Robinson. He was a member of Central Christian Church in Lawrenceville, Illinois. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and riding his motorcycle with family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents and one grandson Joshua Fiscus.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra; his children Brian (Roxie McCullough) Fiscus of Robinson, Illinois and Amy Curry of Lawrenceville, Illinois; five grandchildren, Jacob Fiscus, Olivia Painter, Mallory Painter, Jack Painter, Maci Roney; and two great-grandchildren, Easton Roney and Layton Carmichael; one brother Jerry (Carolyn) Fiscus of Lawrenceville, Illinois; niece Michelle Waller of Lawrenceville and nephew Jeff (Jane) Fiscus of Lawrenceville.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, July 2 at 5:00 PM at Central Christian Church at 303 Buchanan Drive in Lawrenceville, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Central Christian Church in Gene’s memory.
