Robert R. Gray, known by Bob to his family and friends, passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on Saturday, August 16, 2025.

Robert R. Gray, known by Bob to his family and friends, passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on Saturday, August 16, 2025. He was born the son of Ronald and Uela (Ridgley) Gray on July 22, 1935.

Bob married the love of his life, Doris Goldman, on August 19, 1956, in Decker Chapel Methodist Church. For nearly 69 years, they enjoyed their life together, raised their three children, watched their grandchildren grow, and worked as a team.

He loved his family with all of his heart and worked hard to support them. He enjoyed woodworking in his shop and participating in the Shriner’s Parade Car Club. Bob took pride in being a devoted Mason serving out of the Stellar Lodge #912 of St. Francisville where he had been a Past Master as well as assisting other lodges when needed. He was part of the Hadi Shriner’s Temple of Evansville, a 32nd Degree Mason, and a member of the Scottish Rite. 

After graduating high school, Bob joined the National Guard and prepared to serve his country. He then became an Ironworker and worked out of the Ironworkers Local #103 out of Evansville.

Surviving to carry on his legacy of devotion and love include: his wife- Doris Gray of St. Francisville; two sons- Mark Gray and wife Beth of St. Francisville and Tim Gray of Mineral Wells, TX; one son-in-law- Charles “Kim” Schultz of Bridgeport; six grandchildren- Chelsea Fuller and husband Shawn of Lawrenceville, Dylan Schultz of Palestine, Connor Gray of St. Francisville, Kenzie Gray of St. Francisville, Eric Hamilton and wife Logan of Lawrenceville, and Tinea Gray of Mineral Wells, TX; and three great-grandchildren- Anson Fuller, Beckam Hamilton, and Bentley Hamilton.

He was preceded in death by: his parents- Ronald and Uela Gray; one daughter- Cathy Schultz; and one brother- Victor Gray.

A visitation will be held at the Cunningham-Young Funeral Home in Lawrenceville on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm with Masonic Rites accorded at 7:00 pm. A graveside service will take place at 11:00 am on Thursday at Oaklawn Cemetery in St. Francisville.
