Martha L. Dollahan, age 87, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at her residence.
Martha L. Dollahan, age 87, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at her residence. She was born on July 12, 1937 in Lawrenceville, Illinois, the daughter of Hugh and Josephine (Brooke) Gillespie.
She married J. Webster on March 8, 1957, and he survives.
Martha served her community for 22 years as secretary and “all-around-assistant” at Lawrence County Health Department. As a loyal, long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lawrenceville, Martha served multiple terms on the session and as a reliable committee woman. With J Webster as partner, she led the congregation’s teenagers on “Go and Serve” trips to churches with projects needing their energy and enthusiasm. Martha particularly enjoyed traveling, shopping, attending auctions, and playing bridge with her friends. She loved cats, was never without one or two, and spoiled them all. Missy and Tommy will miss her.
Preceding Martha in death were her parents; brother, Robert; two brothers-in-law, Bill Dolak and Herman Brinkley.
Survivors include her husband, J. Webster; two children, Stephen (Estella) Dollahan of Lemoore, California, Margaret Dollahan of Michigan City, Indiana; two sisters, Mary Dolak of Boston, Massachusetts and Frances Brinkley of Lawrenceville, Illinois; two grandchildren, Eylene Tisada and Martha Agatha Defrosa; and one great-grandchild, Tya Dollahan.
Funeral services will be Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home. There will be no visitation.
Burial will be in the Dollahan Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Lawrence County Humane Society.
