Leo Ray Tewell, age 70, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital. He was born October 21, 1954 in Lawrenceville, Illinois, the son of Palmer Tewell and Aletha Wimberly Tewell. He married Anna Ryder on December 22, 1973, and she survives.
Leo worked in the oil field for Smith Drilling and Dee Drilling. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, driving through the country, and spending time with his family and friends.
Preceding Leo in death were his parents, siblings, Bill Wimberly, Ronnie Tewell, Brenda Edgin and Kay Tewell Wheeler.
Survivors include: his wife, Anna; children, Shawn Tewell (Cacey Anderson) of Lawrenceville, Guy (Stacy) Tewell of Lawrenceville, and Chris Tewell of Lawrenceville; siblings, Steve (Ellen) Tewell of St. Francisville, Bonnie Rodgers of Lawrenceville, Shirley (Loel) Martin of Lawrenceville, and Sue May of Bridgeport; grandchildren, Blain Tewell, Paige Tewell, Sarah Tewell, Liam Anderson, Katelyn Tewell, Dylan Tewell, and Skyler Tewell, who was raised by Anna and Leo.
No formal services will be conducted.
