Joyce Faith Wood Brunson, age 83, passed away on December 9, 2025 at her home in Lawrenceville, Illinois.

Joyce Faith Wood Brunson, age 83, passed away on December 9, 2025 at her home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. She was born August 31, 1942 in Lawrence County, Illinois, the daughter of Kyle Wood and Anna Belle Worstell Wood. She married Desmond Brunson on July 28, 1962 and he survives.

Joyce graduated from Sumner High School in 1959. After high school she went on to complete her nursing degrees at Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in 1962. She later continued her studies, earning a degree from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 1985. Joyce worked as a registered nurse at various locations over her working career. A devoted and longtime member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Joyce lived her faith through service, family, and community. She found joy in cooking, working jigsaw puzzles, gardening alongside her husband Dean, and babysitting her grandchildren when they were young. Known for her warm spirit and a playful sports rivalry with her husband—she a steadfast Cardinals fan, and he a loyal Cubs supporter. Joyce will be remembered for the love, laughter, and care she brought to all who knew her.

Preceding her in death were her parents.

Survivors include five children: Susan (James) Hedge of Lawrenceville, Illinois, Anna (Neil) Baum of St. Francisville, Illinois, Michael (Tammy) Brunson of Sumner, Illinois, Desiree (Brad) Snider of Vincennes, Indiana and Stephen Brunson of Evansville, Indiana; one brother: David Wood of Houston, Texas; two sisters, Shirley Stockfleet and Brenda Nantz; twelve grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, December 12, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Lawrenceville. Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Burial will be in Lawrenceville City Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
