Jerry Lee Neikirk, age 73 of Lancaster, succumbed after a brief battle with cancer on Friday, January 3, 2025 at his home surrounded by love. He was born March 25, 1951 to George and Avonna Neikirk.
On November 29, 1970, Jerry married Trixie Hunt. For 54 years, they were the epitome of love and what a marriage should aspire to be. Trixie went on before him on December 20, 2024. Without a doubt, she welcomed him “home” with open arms.
Jerry was a beloved father, husband, and Papa. He was always going out of his way to help others and fix any issue that came his way. A “jack of all trades” from farming, to being a handyman, to a mechanic…his hands were always busy.
The most important thing to him was coming home after a long day at work to spend time with family. He worked at Wabash Valley Services in Allendale for over 50 years of his life. From dedicated, to loyal, and to tough, many words describe Jerry.
His love will live on through his family forever.
Surviving family includes: four children- Jamie Neikirk and wife Cassandra, Christina Walker and husband Jerry, Heidi Sechrest and husband Caleb, and Josh Neikirk and wife Amy; two sisters- Barb McGill and Patty Fetcher; one brother- Tom Neikirk; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death: his wife- Trixie Neikirk; parents- George and Avonna Neikirk; one brother- Dave Neikirk; and his mother-in-law- Mildred Hunt.
Carrying out Jerry’s wishes, cremation will take place with no formal services. Cunningham Funeral Home is assisting his family during their time of loss.
