Jean E. Snyder 96, Rochester, and formerly of Culver, passed away at 4:49 A.M. Friday, May 29, 2026 at Wynnfield Crossing, Rochester.
She was born on November 16, 1929 in Culver, Indiana, the daughter of Cecil and Anna Mae (Smeltzer) Cultice. On October 30, 1948 in Culver, Indiana she married Paul Snyder Jr. He preceded her in death on August 15, 1981.
Jean had been a homemaker and for many years owned and operated “Thru the Grapevine” Store in Culver. A dedicated mother to her three sons, she enjoyed taking her children in the summer months daily to the Lake Maxinkuckee Beach and as a grandmother hosting her grandchildren to New Year’s Eve Parties. She enjoyed making crafts for her store and to give away to friends, following all of her grandchildren’s activities, crossword puzzles, reading newspapers, following her beloved Chicago Cubs and most important being with her family.
Survivors include her sons, Steven (Nanci) Snyder, Culver, Indiana, Bruce (Karen) Snyder, Culver, Indiana, Doug (Marcia) Snyder, Sarasota, Florida, grandchildren, Kamaran (Lauren) Snyder, Indianapolis, Indiana, Kody Snyder, Indianapolis, Indiana, Matthew (RoseMary) Snyder, Pittsboro, North Carolina, Jennifer Snyder (Colby Humphrey) Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Kimberly (Jake) Lawyer, Holly Springs, North Carolina, Beau (Khala) Snyder, Zionsville, Indiana, Savana (Alex) Kislia, Steamboat Springs, Colorado, nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Donald Cultice, and sister, Joan Marilyn Lucas.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, Indiana. Friends may visit from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Friday June 3, 2026 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Culver Masonic Cemetery, Culver, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to your local animal shelter.
