JayC Pitts, 69, of Rochester, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2026.
On October 12, 1956, JayC was born in Knox, IN to Bill and Nora Davis Pitts. Later in life, he became the father of two children and his family tree grew to include his four grandchildren.
On May 1, 1974, JayC enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in San Diego, CA where he completed boot camp on July19, 1974. Proudly, he served our country in the 2nd Battalion. Following his honorable discharge, JayC worked as a heavy equipment operator in the road construction industry and was a loyal member of The International Union of Operating Engineers Local 150.
When JayC wasn’t working hard on the roadways, he would be found tending to his garden to prepare for canning and freezing his bountiful harvest. His life was enriched by enjoying the outdoors where he loved mushroom hunting, summer cookouts, camping and fishing. Above all, JayC loved being Grandpa to his grandchildren and he shared his love of fishing with grandson Blaine at the pond.
Left to cherish the memories of JayC are his daughter, Katie Hayn (Dustin) of Plymouth; son, David Pitts; mother of his children, Melanie Pitts, both of Rochester; grandchildren: Kiley Pitts, Kenzley Hayn, Blaine Pitts and Davis Hayn; sisters, Cindy Myer and Lisa Miller; brother, Leslie (Tricia) Pitts; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Preceding JayC in death are his parents; sisters: Lois Hatfield (Curt), Maude Eberhardt (Jeff), Thelma Pitts; brothers: Robert, David, Blaine, Steve, Paul; and nephew, Zach Pitts.
A celebration of life for JayC will be held at a later date.
