James Neal "Jim" Casey, 77, of Shelbyville

James Neal "Jim" Casey, 77, of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2026, at his residence.

Born on September 18, 1948, in Shelbyville he was the son of Albert Casey and Pearl (Safewright) Casey.

He married Donna (Meltzer) Casey on December 21, 1968, and she survives. Other survivors include 3 children- Doug Casey (Nikki), Shelli Leffler (Billy), Shana Carrell (Kenny) all of Shelbyville; 9 grandchildren- Derek Casey (Lynsey), Kourtney Casey, Hannah Casey, Layne Carrell, Trey Carrell, Haley Casey, Cooper Leffler, Carter Leffler, Cai Leffler; and 4 great grandchildren- Rhett, Charlotte, Harper, and Miley.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Jim had lived in this area most of his lifetime and graduated from Greenfield Central High School in 1966. He was a police officer for 15 years for the Shelbyville Police Department and an inspector for the State of Indiana for over 20 years, he also had been a shuttle driver at the Casino for several years, and worked at Murphy Oil for a couple of years. He was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, American Legion Post #70, the FOP and was also a US Air Force veteran.

Jim enjoyed riding his motorcycle, vacationing in Florida, attending grandchildren's sporting events and spending time with his family.

A Celebration of Life will be 12:00 noon, Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road.

Burial will be in Zion Cemetery at a later date.

Family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of the service, at the funeral home.

Military rites will be observed.

Memorial contributions can be made to American Heart Association or Shelbyville/Shelby Co. Animal Shelter in care of the funeral home.
