Ida K. Lowe, age 88, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2025, at the Oak View Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. She was born January 24, 1937, in Lawrenceville, Illinois, the daughter of Paul Wimberly and Mildred Sager. She was raised by Ernie Sager. She married Glen D. Lowe in 1952 and he passed away in 2008.
Ida delivered several newspapers in the community. She was known as the “Paper Lady.”
She attended the Pinkstaff United Methodist Church. She raised three grandchildren, Joseph Harvey, Stacey Harvey, Angela Selby and great-grandchild Curtis Harvey. Ida worked at various jobs like Suttle Apparatus, Victor Dana, and Wal-Mart. She enjoyed shopping, fresh cut flowers, and enjoyed her family.
Preceding her in death were her children, Sheila Harvey, James Lowe, Gary Lowe, and Bill Lowe; brother, Arthur Lynch; great-grandchildren, Colt Lowe and David Kearby.
Survivors include children, Paul David Lowe of Lawrenceville, and Beverly Love of Mt. Carmel; siblings, Loretta (Kenny) Shaffer of rural Lawrenceville, Jack Wimberly of Lawrenceville, Sandra Dunlap of Lawrenceville, Annette Leighty of Lawrenceville, Lorretta Hedge of Lawrenceville; fourteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren.
