Former Rochester resident, Troy L. Tyler, 60, of Plymouth, passed away at his home at 9:10 AM on December 27, 2025.
On February 4, 1965, Troy Lynn Tyler was born in Rochester. He was the son of Jimmie Lee and Betty Rhodes Tyler. Growing up as the 3rd born of the four Tyler kids he shared his childhood with Jimmie Jr, Dawn and a little sister Lisa. Troy graduated from Rochester High School with the class of 1983. Soon thereafter, patriotism beckoned and Troy answered the call serving with the United States Navy from 1984 - 1990.
Following Troy's honorable discharge, he returned stateside working for Koontz Equipment as a heavy equipment mechanic. He later took a liking to finishing concrete and was well known for his skills and ability with the float, edger and finishing trowel. The finished product was flawless and aesthetically pleasing to the eye, allowing his customers great satisfaction.
With a love for football, Troy followed the Green Bay Packers. He also cheered for Notre Dame. Seated beside him in his favorite chair was Fox his accomplice. Summertime brought on adventure, his greatest passion was floating the river. He organized and planned several adventures usually originating on the Tippecanoe or Yellow Rivers. There was nothing better than hanging out with friends or family on the river embracing nature, enjoying a sandwich and adult beverage in one hand and a fishing pole in the other, while navigating the river.
Left to cherish Troy's memory is his dad Jimmie Tyler of Rochester; his siblings: Jimmie Lee (Mary Pat Young) Tyler Jr. of Nokomis, FL, Diana Dawn (Jan) Bryant, Lisa Lenee`(Thad) Wyman all of Opelika, Alabama; Uncle Troy's nephews and nieces: Jackson Nicholas Tyler, Greyson Elizabeth Bryant, Jessica Ann Tyler; and his domestic short-haired feline Fox.
Preceding Troy in death is his mother Betty Tyler Bachman on Nov. 11, 2025 and his grandparents.
A celebration of the life of Troy Lynn Tyler will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Rochester IOOF Cemetery. Chaplain Jason See will officiate. The Fulton County Veteran's Honor Guard and the United States Navy will accord military honors. His burial will follow. The Good Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
