Elijia “Alice” Wolfe, 93, of Bridgeport, Illinois, passed away on August 31, 2025, at Haven of Bridgeport.

Elijia “Alice” Wolfe, 93, of Bridgeport, Illinois, passed away on August 31, 2025, at Haven of Bridgeport.

Alice was born on November 16, 1931, in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Meliton Sanchez and Eulalia (Herrera) Sanchez. On April 15, 1950, she married James Taylor Wolfe, with whom she shared 68 years of marriage until his passing on August 18, 2018.

Alice was a devoted homemaker. Alice also worked at Central Industries Factory in Lawrenceville before finishing her career as a cook with Unit #20 Schools, where she retired. She was a longtime member of Lawrenceville’s Free Methodist Church.

Alice had many interests and talents. She enjoyed cooking Spanish dishes for her family. She was very active as a Cub Scout pack leader when her sons were young, and found joy in sewing, crocheting, and working in pencil coloring books. Her creativity and kindness touched everyone around her.

She is survived by her sons and their families: James (Jan) Wolfe of Phoenix, Arizona and their children, Jessica Robnett and Ashley Pukay-Martin; Thomas (Chris) Wolfe of Kalkaska, Michigan and his son, Travis (Joyce) Wolfe; and Timothy (Regina) Wolfe of Lawrenceville, Illinois and their children, Amity Emmons, Blaine Emmons, Justin Wolfe, Tyler (Stephanie) Wolfe, Kale Staver, and Kinsey Staver. She is also survived by her brother, Robert (Dorothy) Sanchez of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and sisters, Stella Trujio of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Reina Medina, Paubla Apadaco, and Helen Willis.  

Alice’s legacy continues through her nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, who will cherish her memory and the love she gave so freely.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, James.

Funeral services will be Saturday, September 20, 2025, 11:00 a.m. at the Free Methodist Church in Lawrenceville, Illinois.  Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. till the service hour of 11:00 a.m.  Burial will be in Lawrenceville City Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be made to the Free Methodist Church in Lawrenceville.
