Dorothy Mae Eckiss, 81, of Bridgeport, passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at The Haven of Bridgeport.
She was born in Boonville, IN on October 21, 1944, to Forrest “Boots” Eckiss and his wife Pansy Mae (Hedge) Eckiss.
Dorothy was known by many as “Dot”. She worked for the city of Bridgeport as the Water Clerk for many years until her retirement and was a regular attendee at the Assembly of God Church in Bridgeport throughout her life.
Dorothy enjoyed being a part of her nieces and nephew’s lives. Her family truly was a great source of joy in her life.
Those remaining to remember and honor Dorothy include: her four nieces and one nephew- Marla Fiscus and husband Richard of Bridgeport, IL, Lori Pentell and husband Steve of Bridgeport, IL, Jeri Eckiss of Bridgeport, IL, Pansy Eckiss of New Town, ND, and Billie Eckiss of New Town, ND; several great-nieces and great-nephews- Aimee Puls and husband Christopher of Chatham, IL, Logan Fiscus and wife Chealsi of Vincennes, IN, Stefanie Pentell of Bridgeport, IL, Christopher Pentell and wife Noel of Bridgeport, IL, and Angie Holtz and David Clark of Bridgeport, IL; and her special friend Kathy Cotterell and husband Terry of Sumner, IL and their family- Kristin Arlyn and husband Damian of Sachse, TX, Kyle Cotterell and wife April of Richardson, TX, and Keith Cotterell of Evansville, IN.
She was preceded in death by: her parents- Forrest “Boots” and Pansy Eckiss; two brothers- Jerry Eckiss and Bill Eckiss; and one niece- Ruby Eckiss.
Honoring Dorothy’s wishes, her services will be held privately. Cunningham Funeral Home of Bridgeport is in charge of arrangements.
