Denise Dickerson, age 71, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away Friday June 06, 2025 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana.
Denise Dickerson, age 71, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away Friday June 06, 2025 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana. She was born November 12, 1953 in Vincennes, Indiana, the daughter of Robert and Shirley (Conover) Watson. She married James “Jim” Dickerson on December 23, 1971, and he survives.
Denise was an educator for over 30 years. She taught 4th grade for Unit 20 schools, and even returned to fill in after her retirement. She was a long time active member of Delta Theta Tau as well as the St. Lawrence Catholic Church. She loved participating in Friday night bingo, as well as traveling. She was a collector of antiques and purses and loved her grandchildren dearly.
Preceding Denise in death were her parents, and her brother, Dennis Joseph Watson.
Survivors include: her husband, Jim; her sons, Christopher (Nicole) Dickerson of Champaign, Illinois, and Travis (Angela) Dickerson of Shelbyville, Kentucky; her sister, Paula (Steve) Waggoner of Avon, Ohio; four grandchildren: Benjamin, Ava, Joseph and Carly Dickerson.
A service by Delta Theta Tau will be held at at Emmons Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois, on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, with rites beginning at 3 p.m. A memorial service will follow with Deacon Steve Andrews officiating. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. till the service hour of 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lawrence County Delta Theta Tau.
