Reflections of Delbert’s life by his son, William
“Today, I took a walk in the woods at Red Hill State Park to have a moment to reflect on a great man I was privileged to call my Dad. I thought of the many times we spent there as a family under his watchful eye. My dad was an avid bow hunter winning many archery competitions. He was also well known in the coon hunting circle, both locally and nationally winning many trophies hunting with his redbone coon dogs throughout his life. His passion for hunting was more than sport. He would save the hides and sell them when the market was right and used the money to buy Christmas gifts for his family. My dad loved the outdoors and our family took many trips camping and spending quality time together. He particularly loved spending time at West Boggs Lake with our extended family over many summers. Today as I walked in the woods, it was a blessing for me to be able to relive those memories I shared with him. Now I see my dad looking for that trophy whitetail buck and treeing many coons with his hunting buddies who passed before him. Today he is with my mom, my siblings and other family members who passed before him where they are all rejoicing with The Lord. My dad was born October 23, 1945 and passed away Tuesday, evening, April 22nd at Ascension St. Vincent in Evansville. He will be greatly missed by his children; Tony, Bil, Tammy and Alyssa as well as his grand-children and great-grandchildren and his brother, Raymond. Your prayers of comfort during this difficult time were a true Blessing for our family. I want to thank each one of you and appreciate continued prayers for the days ahead.”
