Charles D. Young, 82, Rochester

Charles D. Young, 82, Rochester, Indiana, passed away at 1:50 A.M. Friday, August 14, 2026 at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne, Indiana.

He was born on February 9, 1944 in Rochester, Indiana, the son of Charles and Sudie belle (White) Young. Charles served with the United States Army during the Vietnam War. On December 21, 1964 in Mannheim, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany, he married Annette Kollert and she survives.

Charles had worked for Sealed Power, Rochester, Indiana, Sunoco Products, Akron, Indiana and retired from Lobdell-Emery Manufacturing in Argos, Indiana. He attended the First Christian Church, had been a member of the Jaycees, a lifetime member of D.A.V and lifetime member of the Warsaw Moose Lodge. In his spare time, he was an avid gardener and enjoyed fixing items. His passion for horticulture lead him to be a volunteer with the Rochester High School Agriculture Department.

Survivors include his wife, Annette Young, Rochester, Indiana, son, Roger Young, Schererville, Indiana, grandchildren, Kayleigh (Mr.) Clark, Highland, Indiana, Cameron Young, St. George, Utah, several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Young, mother, Sudie Belle Rodes, sisters, Bettie Wilson, Leatta Conrad, and Loletta Stroud.

Private services will be observed with interment at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Rochester, Indiana, where military rites will be conducted. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rochester High School Ag Dept. or to 4-H. Arrangements with Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, Indiana.
