Carole E. Hos, 73, of Terre Haute

Carole E. Hos, 73, of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2026.

She was born on May 22, 1953, in Terre Haute, Indiana, to William Charles and Barbara Jean (Beckman) Lee.

Carole was a woman whose life was marked by faith, love, service, teaching, and an extraordinary ability to make the people around her feel valued.

She possessed a radiant spirit and warmth that was immediately felt by those who knew her. Friendly, thoughtful, compassionate, and genuinely interested in the lives of others, Carole had a gift for connecting with people.

Whether she was sitting across from someone at church, talking with a friend over a Diet Coke at McDonald’s, teaching a child, encouraging a young person, or simply checking in with someone by text, she had a way of making people feel that they mattered. Education was one of the great callings of Carole’s life.

She dedicated many years to teaching, sharing not only knowledge but also encouragement, patience, and care with the students entrusted to her. Her teaching career carried her to many schools and communities, including Crown Point, Lake Village, Deming, Lost Creek, Terre Haute, and Crawfordsville. Wherever she taught, she left behind more than lessons in a classroom. She left pieces of herself in the lives of the students she encountered.

Carole is survived by her husband, John Hos. They were married in November of 1991 in Terre Haute. They loved their weekly Costco trips, shopping for their grandkids, meeting friends for meals and spending time with family.

Carole loved to stay busy, often baking treats for her family, friends and church family. Carole loved being a mother and grandmother more than anything, and it was evident in the way she cared for her family. Carole was a member of Lyford Baptist, where she served alongside her husband, John.

She loved teaching the kids and teens, singing in cantatas and being a part of the community of believers. She will be missed greatly for the way she impacted those around her. And may everyone who knew Carole remember the simple truth she spent her life trying to share that there is hope, there is love, and there is a Savior who calls us closer to Him. Her life was a gift. Her faith was her legacy. Her love will remain.

Carole was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, along with aunts and uncles. Carole was a devoted mother and grandmother.

She is survived by Husband John Hos, her son, Andrew (Amber) Corey, her brother Mike (Polly) Lee, and her grandchildren, Eliana, Silas, and Norah, who brought immense joy and pride into her life.

A visitation for Carole will be held at the church where she grew deeper in her faith, Lyford Bible Baptist Church, 8121 Larkins St, Rosedale, IN 47874, on Friday, August 14, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.

A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation.

Burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park, 7500 N. Clinton St., Terre Haute, Indiana 47805, immediately following the funeral service.
