Bradley Dean McVey, age 61 of Bridgeport, passed away in the comfort of his home surrounded by love on Monday, June 15, 2026, after battling cancer. He was born to Donald and Deloris (Simmons) McVey on October 31, 1964, in Springfield, IL.

After graduating high school, Brad went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcasting from Eastern Illinois University. His deep, smooth voice fit his chosen profession perfectly as a disc jockey. Following his first career, he became the sports editor for the Taylorville paper “The Breeze Courier” before moving to Bridgeport.

The St. Louis Cardinals were his team, and his dedication as a fan was evident through their highs and lows. He was also interested in history and geography.

Throughout his battle with cancer, he leaned heavily into his faith in the Lord and appreciated the help from his family and friends. He was an active member of New Hope in Bridgeport until his illness permitted his absence.
