The Tyner Odd Fellows Charter started in 1905, and today they have 100 members and are the largest lodge in the state.
In the 60’s, the Odd Fellows purchased the frying equipment and bus from the LaCross Lions Club and began frying chicken and fish. They also made their own potato salad and coleslaw with the help of the Tyner Rebekahs. After about 10 years, they changed to just frying fish, and at their peak were frying over 25 events a year. Eventually, they dropped the chicken and became well known for their fantastic fish fries.
The Tyner Odd Fellows just completed renovations of their 4th-generation fry bus late this spring.
This Saturday, the Tyner Lodge is hosting their own fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to acquire additional needed equipment for the bus. They will be frying tenderloins and chicken strips along with French fries. The dinner will also include coleslaw. The drive-thru only meals will be served this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and are $12 cash, and the Tyner IOOF Lodge is located at 18260 4B Road.
