The Town of Culver is reminding residents and lawn care providers to avoid blowing grass clippings into the roadway, citing concerns about storm drain blockages and the health of Lake Maxinkuckee.

According to Culver Clerk-Treasurer Karen Heim, grass clippings left in the street are washed into the town's storm drainage system during rain events, where they can clog drains and contribute to localized flooding. Clippings that make their way into Lake Maxinkuckee carry excess nutrients that can negatively impact the lake's water quality.

Residents who use outside lawn care services are asked to pass the reminder along to their providers as well.

"We appreciate your cooperation and your help in protecting our community and Lake Maxinkuckee," Heim said.
