SVSC approved a new 5-year strategic plan that will take effect this upcoming school year.
South Vermillion Schools Superintendent Dave Chapman says that the new strategic plan has 5 main pillars: Student Achievement and Growth, Climate and Culture, Human Resource Development, Governance and Communication, and Fiscal Responsibility. These pillars are meant to guide the corporation as they decide what to look for and what to change to improve schools in the coming years.
The full strategic plan will be available on the South Vermillion School Corporation website in the coming days.
The first pillar of the new strategic plan is student achievement and growth. According to Superintendent Dave Chapman, "Whatever projects or changes are made, they are made to benefit the students."
The second pillar is climate and culture within the schools, emphasizing a safe and secure environment where both students and teachers can thrive.
The third pillar, human resource development, focuses on the recruitment, retention, and rewarding of all staff members, including janitors, support staff, and teachers.
The fourth pillar concerns governance and communication, which aims to ensure transparency and community involvement in all decisions made by the school board.
The final pillar is fiscal responsibility, which ensures that all actions are taken in a financially prudent manner. Since the school's funding comes from the state, compliance with state regulations is crucial.
The strategic plan was approved at the South Vermillion School Corporation Board Meeting. The livestream for that meeting can be found here .
