A South Bend teen was arrested by county police for operating a vehicle without a license on Friday, July 19th at about 10:30 p.m.
Officer Lafoon with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department observed a vehicle driving erratically on U.S. 30 east near Pioneer Drive. Probable cause was found to perform a traffic stop on the vehicle and the officer found that the driver, Noe Augusto Garcia Palma, 19, had operated a vehicle without a license.
He was arrested at the scene, transported to the Marshall County Jail, and lodged on a $100 cash bond for operating without a license at 11:02 p.m. His cash bond was paid at midnight and he was released on bond.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
