Small Business Saturday events aimed to bring people to Greencastle

Downtown Greencastle will be the place to be on Saturday as MainStreet Greencastle and many businesses are rolling out shopping opportunities and activities for the family as part of Small Business Saturday.

The festivities will include entertainment, food and experiences, all of which have been crafted to bring residents and visitors to Greencastle and highlight the value of shopping locally during the upcoming holiday season.

Small Business Saturday will kickoff with a Boutique Fashion Show and Brunch at Almost Home at 10 a.m. Those wishing to attend can call 653-5788 to make a reservation.

There will be free holiday movies at Ashley Square Cinema throughout the day, as The Grinch, Elf and The Polar Express will all be shown.

Furthermore, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., there will be food trucks on the south side of the Putnam County Courthouse next to the Visitor's Center. From noon to 3 p.m., attendees can take part in a tea service at Doc's Inn, as well as enjoy light refreshments and a tour of the bed and breakfast.

From noon to 8 p.m., attendees can enjoy visiting popup vendors inside M2 and Myers 5 East, and there will also be an opportunity to take part in the Shop Local Passport program, which encourages shoppers to visit participating downtown Greencastle businesses. Shoppers who visit at least five businesses, spend at least $5 and get a stamp from each store will be entered into a drawing.

"Our hope is that Small Business Saturday will inspire people to explore downtown Greencastle, meet local business owners and support the shops that make our community unique. Every dollar spent locally strengthens our economy and helps keep downtown vibrant and welcoming for everyone," said Kate Knaul, executive director of MainStreet Greencastle.
