An over $5 million facilities improvement project will move forward in Red Hill Unit #10 in Lawrence County.
The school board meeting in special session Thursday unanimously approved payment to the project engineering firm ENGIE based out of Chicago for the planning.
They also approved an energy services contract with the company as well.
To finance the work, the board adopted a resolution authorizing the issuance of General Obligation Bonds of the district not to exceed $4 million for replacement of the HVAC system and other improvements to the Jr/Sr High School Gymnasium in Bridgeport.
Also approved as part of the financing process was a Life Health Safety amendment to access the 1% funding needed to complete the project.
Unit #10 Superintendent Jakie Walker told GIANT-FM News that if all goes well, work should start the beginning of May or the first of June.
It is expected to affect the beginning of school next year and be done in October.
