Plymouth Police log 3 arrests over weekend involving Disorderly conduct, trespassing, and intoxicated threats

Plymouth Police Department officers made three arrests over the course of Friday through Sunday involving disorderly conduct, trespassing in a city park, and a man who admitted to shouting death threats at passersby while intoxicated.

At 8:10 a.m. Friday, officers arrived at a residence in the 1,000 block of West Madison Street to execute a home inspection warrant to assess living conditions inside the home. The resident, Becky Thornburg-Abair, 69, physically blocked officers from entering after the warrant was presented and explained to her. She was taken into custody for disorderly conduct and lodged at the Marshall County Jail.

Early Saturday morning, Robert D. Rees, 80, of Angel Street in Plymouth, was formally trespassed from all city parks by Park Superintendent Mike Hite. At 8:39 a.m., Rees returned to River Park Square in violation of the trespass order. He was taken into custody and lodged at the Marshall County Jail.

Sunday evening at approximately 11:20 p.m., Plymouth officers were dispatched to the area of North Michigan and West LaPorte Streets after reports of a male yelling threats at people passing by. Officers located 33-year-old Matthew O'Brien of the 500 block of South Michigan Street near the intersection of Michigan and Adams Streets. During the investigation, O'Brien admitted to shouting "I will kill you" at passersby. He was also found to be intoxicated and in possession of marijuana. O'Brien was transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked on charges of public intoxication and possession of marijuana.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
