Plymouth city meetings Monday to cover infrastructure dedication, dangerous building, zoning change, and more

A busy evening of city business is on tap Monday, beginning with the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety meeting, which will open with an infrastructure dedication for the Menominee Heights Phase II and III project.

The Board will also take up a serious property matter on Clark Street. Building Commissioner Dennis Manuwal, who two weeks ago told the city that the interior condition of the structure at 405 Clark Street poses a danger to the life and safety of its occupants, will bring forward the Order to Take Action for the property.

Also on the Board's agenda is the swearing in of EMT/Firefighter Taylor McVoy, a street closure request from the Plymouth Kiwanis Club, and the approval of claims.

The Plymouth City Council meeting follows at 6:30 p.m. with a wide-ranging agenda of its own.

Council members will consider the Plan Commissioner's recommendation to deny a zoning map change for the Red Rock Inn property on North Michigan Street. The request sought to rezone the property from Business Park to Commercial, a change that would have potentially allowed a truck fueling business to operate on the site.

Two ordinances are slated for consideration — one that would amend the city's building code to require emergency key boxes on certain properties, and another that updates permit and application fees.

The council will also weigh an application from Ociel Jaimes for a Commercial Revitalization Rebate Program Grant for Jaimes Grocery on LaPorte Street, and will review compliance forms for several city tax abatements.

Rounding out the evening's agenda are updates on ONE Marshall County and the city's Comprehensive Plan.

Both meetings will be held on the second floor of City Hall. Those attending are asked to enter through the Garro Street door. The meetings will also be streamed live on the city's YouTube channel.
