On Monday evening, the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety opened quotes for seven new patrol vehicles for the police department, which are in the budget for the coming year. Chief John Wier told members he has seven vehicles in his budget this year and presented quotes from two dealerships.
The police chief opened a quote from Oliver Ford Lincoln for Ford Explorer Police Hybrid Interceptors utility vehicles. The price for the Plymouth Police Department was $46,822 each. He also asked for pricing of ballistic, bulletproof front doors on each one. The option is an additional $2,980 per vehicle.

The second quote was from Kelly Chevrolet out of Fort Wayne. The quote was for 2025 Tahoe police pursuit vehicles at a cost of $52,160 each. The Tahoes don’t have the ballistic door option.

The bids were also taken under advisement to allow Chief Weir the time to examine them, making sure they meet specifications. He will also determine the number of hybrids and gasoline-powered vehicles he will purchase with the funds in his 2025 budget.
The police chief will make his recommendation at the next Board of Public Works and Safety meeting on Feb. 10.
