The 26th annual Warm Up Marshall County winter coat drive is currently underway.
Steve Keiser from Oliver Ford Lincoln told GIANT fm WTCA that this year they will surpass by handing out over 23,000 coats. He said annually they acquire between 700 and 1,000 new and gently used coats to share with those who are in need.
Coats are collected at Oliver Ford Lincoln at 1001 East Jefferson Street during normal business hours. There is a white van parked out front and donors only need to open the door and drop off their coat donations. Other drop-off locations include Beacon Credit Union, 1st Source Bank, Dr. Joel Schumacher Family Medicine, the Pilot News, St. Michael Catholic Church and here at the GIANT fm WTCA studios 112 West Washington Street in downtown Plymouth.
All types and sizes of winter coats are needed for the drive, from the wee little ones up to 2X, 3X and 4X. Keiser said not only will they accept winter coats but also clean and gently used or new hats, scarves, gloves and mittens. You can even donate snow pants, and winter boots.
The winter coat collection continues through Wednesday, November 20th.
The winter coat distribution dates are Saturday, November 23rd from 10 a.m. to noon and on Sunday, November 24th from noon to 2 p.m. at the National Guard Armory at 1220 West Madison Street.
