The Kewanna Diner, located at 110 Main St. in Kewanna, is planting new roots in the "Little Town with a Big Heart" after officially opening the hometown diner on April 16.
Owner Mark Davis says the new business was an opportunity to make the dream of having his own restaurant a reality. Carrying a culinary passion that stemmed from experience he had as a child in his grandmother's kitchen, Davis jumped at the opportunity for the restaurant by signing the lease March 1.

Also operating the food truck Chicks and Racks, Davis is now able to extend his menu to more than barbeque. Looking to make his restaurant have a traditional hometown diner feel, Davis's vision was to create a place someone could go for breakfast served all day or a home cooked meal for lunch.
"I strive to serve my customers quality home-cooked meals and focus on making my recipes from scratch. I use my grandmother's exact recipe for my biscuits and gravy every morning," Davis said.

New to the community, Davis said he's quickly become acquainted with many of the locals already since opening in Kewanna and is thankful for his loyal customers. He also said as the Kewanna Diner grows to the needs of his customers, he's always open for suggestions from the public.
Diner hours are Wednesday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.
