The career of an Indiana State Trooper is a journey that can span decades serving the citizens of Indiana.
Several local troopers from the Indiana State Police Bremen Post have hit a career milestone of serving for twenty-five years. First Sergeant Tony Slocum, Sergeant Ryan Lebo, and Sergeant Brandon McBrier are all graduates of the 57th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy that graduated on June 13, 1999.
First Sergeant Slocum was assigned to the Indianapolis District after graduation where he patrolled Marion County for a year and a half before transferring to the Peru District. Slocum patrolled Fulton County until his promotion to the rank of Sergeant in 2005 where he served as the Peru District Public Information Officer. Slocum was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant in 2023 to serve as the Bremen Post Assistant District Commander.
During his tenure with the Indiana State Police, Slocum has been a Field Training Officer (FTO) and been a member of the Mobile Field Force (MFF). Slocum was recognized with a Lifesaving Award in 2005 after he used an AED on a man whose heart had stopped. He is also a graduate of the IMPD Leadership Academy and has been a fixture at the Indianapolis 500 and Brickyard 400 where he served as PIO for many years.
Slocum is married and lives in Fulton County.
Sergeant Lebo was assigned to the Lafayette Post after graduation from the Academy before transferring to the Bremen Post in 2001. Lebo served as an Indiana State Police K9 handler from 2009 until retiring his K9, Bosco, in 2014. Lebo was promoted to serve as a Squad Sergeant in 2014 and currently serves in this role supervising troopers in Marshall County. During his tenure with the State Police, Lebo has been a member of the Indiana State Police Underwater Search Rescue Team (USRT), where he currently serves as Team Leader. He has also been a member of the Mobile Field Force (MFF) since 1999. Lebo is also certified to perform commercial motor vehicle inspections.
Lebo lives in Marshall County with his wife and two teenage sons.
Sergeant McBrier was originally assigned to the Lowell Post following graduation from the Academy. He transferred to the Bremen Post in 2001 where he patrolled Kosciusko County. During this time, McBrier was recognized in 2009 and 2013 as the Bremen Post Trooper of the Year as well as the department Trooper of the Year in 2013. McBrier was promoted to serve as a Squad Sergeant in 2014 where he supervised troopers in Kosciusko County and currently supervises troopers in the All Crimes Policing (ACP) squad. During his tenure with the State Police, McBrier has been a Field Training Officer (FTO), Mobile Field Force (MFF) member, Clandestine Lab Team member, and Field Training Officer Coordinator (FTOC).
McBrier is married and lives in Kosciusko County.
