The National Weather Service (NWS) has announced that a Flood Watch will be in effect for the entire GIANT-FM listening area including Lawrence County.
It will be in effect Wednesday afternoon through Sunday.
Forecasters say that rainfall in excess of 5 inches is possible during that period due to multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms that will move through.
Excessive runoff from the rain could result in the flooding of local rivers, creeks and other low-lying flood prone locations.
Those who live in areas prone to flooding should monitor forecasts on GIANT-FM, be alert for Flood Warnings and be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
