Units of the Lawrence Allison Fire Protection District, Bridgeport Fire Protection District and the Christy Fire Protection District were called out Sunday to battle a structure fire in Lawrenceville.
Firefighters were dispatched to the fire location at 1616 Lexington Avenue around 10:15 a.m. and arrived to find flames already coming from the inside of the building. They remained on the scene for several hours extinguishing the blaze. Preliminary reports indicate that damages were extensive, and the home is close to a total loss. One firefighter was reportedly overcome by heat exhaustion while fighting the fire. No other details regarding the fire including a cause have been released as the investigation continues by fire officials.
